Tribute to Orfeu Negro – English

Tribute to Orfeu Negro is a musical ode to the film that put Brazil on the map. In the 50s a very special fusion of African rhythms, Portuguese folk music, Brazilian samba and rich melodic jazz took place. The Bossa Nova (‘new trend’) remained a ‘Brazilian affair’, until the film Orfeu Negro, by Marcel Camus, became a worldwide hit. The film received an Oscar, a Golden Globe Awarde and the Palme d’Or, and instigated the endless success of Bossa Nova.
In Tribute to Orfeu Negro music, story and visuals are combined to bring an extraordinary experience of this classic story of unattainable love. With Brazilian music, like ‘A Felicidade’ and ‘Manha de Carnaval’, and European classical music from composers as Richard Wagner and Igor Stravinsky.
